Understanding the Role of Yeast in Our Supplements

Explore why the yeast used in Together Health products is safe and does not contribute to candida infections.

At Together Health, we always strive to equip you with the most comprehensive and accurate information about our health supplements. One common query that we frequently address involves our use of yeast, specifically Saccharomyces cerevisiae, in several of our products.

You might wonder, "Does the yeast in your supplements contribute to candida?" To set your mind at ease, the short answer is: no. The yeast utilised in our products not only lacks the ability to cause infections, but also, as emerging research suggests, could potentially help to combat them.

Our selection of yeast is the Saccharomyces cerevisiae species, a type of yeast often harnessed in baking and brewing. This yeast is deactivated, or 'non-live', in our products, ensuring it does not multiply or proliferate within your body.

A study titled "A tale of two yeasts: Saccharomyces cerevisiae as a therapeutic against candidiasis", published in the Virulence Journal, casts a spotlight on the potential therapeutic role of Saccharomyces cerevisiae in managing candidiasis, notably vulvovaginal candidiasis (VVC), a prevalent infection impacting 75% of women of childbearing age. This research revealed that post-infection administration of live or inactivated S. cerevisiae significantly enhanced the clearance of C. albicans cells. Incredibly, a single administration of live S. cerevisiae cells resulted in Candida clearance at levels akin to fluconazole, a frequently prescribed antifungal drug.

While these findings are promising, we must underline that these results were observed in a laboratory setting and may not directly translate into real-world applications in humans. Also, it is crucial to clarify that we are not implying our products to be a treatment for candida. However, these findings do underline the safety of our products for customers who may be apprehensive about them contributing to candida. As always, we remain dedicated to keeping you informed and reassured about the ingredients in our supplements. If you have any further questions, we're here to help!
