Understanding the Form of B1 in our Supplements

Gain insights into the active and inactive forms of B1 in our products

Updated over a year ago

Our products contain thiamin hydrochloride. We use a unique method to produce whole food nutrients (see: How are your whole food nutrients made?), and in this process, we ensure thiamin hydrochloride becomes part of the cells of the whole foods we use. As a result, it is better absorbed than isolated forms of vitamin B1.

The majority of people can efficiently convert absorbed thiamin hydrochloride to the active form as needed in a normal biological process. Some rare genetic factors and conditions can affect this. Additionally, chronic alcohol consumption can reduce the activity of thiamine pyrophosphokinase, the enzyme responsible for the conversion. Where there is a known genetic condition or concern, it is recommended to consult with a healthcare professional or genetic counsellor for further evaluation and guidance.
