Understanding our Optimal Vitamin B12 Dosage

Exploring why Together Health's B12 dosage surpasses the Nutrient Reference Value, and the benefits it provides.

Updated over a week ago

You may have observed that the Vitamin B12 dosage in our supplements is above the Nutrient Reference Value (NRV). Rest assured, this is not an oversight but a well-considered part of our formulation.

The Nutrient Reference Value represents the minimum nutrient dosage required to prevent deficiencies. The dosage of our Vitamin B12 is therefore set to optimise your health rather than only prevent deficiency.

But why is B12 so much higher than other nutrients? It's important to understand that Vitamin B12 is notoriously hard for the body to absorb, especially from dietary sources. Hence, providing a higher dosage helps to ensure that enough of this vital nutrient makes it into your system.

Is it safe? Absolutely. Vitamin B12 has been found to be safe for consumption even at very high levels. In fact, there's currently no recognised upper limit for B12 intake. Medical practitioners often use injections with up to 5000% more B12 than you find in our supplements without observing any adverse effects. This safety is due to your body's ability to excrete any B12 efficiently it doesn't require.

Given these facts, we've purposely designed our supplements with a 'high' dose of Vitamin B12. This is to maximise absorption and ensure that your body receives the optimal amount to support your health safely.
