Advice on safety of Ashwagandha supplements when pregnant

Updated over a year ago

We do not recommend taking our Ashwagandha supplement if you are pregnant.

Ashwagandha is an adaptogenic herb traditionally used in Ayurvedic medicine. However, there is limited scientific evidence on its safety during pregnancy.

The active compounds in ashwagandha, such as withanolides, can cross the placenta. While there have been no adverse effects reported, caution is advised as studies are limited.

As a precaution, we recommend avoiding ashwagandha supplements during pregnancy, unless advised by your healthcare professional.
