Understanding the suitability of our Bone Aid supplement for use by children

Updated over a week ago

Bone Aid is formulated to support strong, healthy bones in adults. However, the nutrient levels in each serving are generally considered safe for children over the age of 3 when consumed as directed. Capsules may be a choking hazard for children under 5, so we recommend adding the contents to food or drink for children under 5.

We make this recommendation based on information from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services National Institutes of Health Office of Dietary Supplements. Unlike for adults, no EU Nutrient Reference Values exist for children.

The tables below show the percentage of the Recommended Daily Allowance or Adequate Intake and Upper limit that our product provides, as a percentage, for each nutrient and age group.

For clarity:

Recommended Daily Allowance (RDA): The amount needed daily to prevent deficiency

Adequate Intake (AI): The amount suggested daily when RDA is not determined

Upper Limit (UL): The amount that may cause health issues if exceeded

The product does not exceed the upper limit for any nutrients for any age, but our recommendation is based on the fact that, for ages below 3, the Bone Aid provides a very high percentage of the adequate intake of vitamin K. Although Vitamin K does not have an upper limit as it has a low potential for toxicity, and no adverse effects associated with vitamin K consumption have been reported, we still recommend taking a cautious approach and avoiding use for those ages.
