Is B Complex safe for Kids

Understanding the suitability B Complex use for children

Updated over a week ago

Our B Complex is formulated for adults. Nevertheless, when taken as directed, the nutrient levels in each serving are generally considered safe for children over the age of 14, based on data from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services National Institutes of Health Office of Dietary Supplements. It's important to mention that unlike for adults, there aren't any EU Nutrient Reference Values set for children.

B Vitamins are water-soluble, which means our bodies can excrete excess amounts. This property often allows for a higher tolerance across age groups. However, it's worth noting that just because a vitamin is water-soluble doesn't mean that consuming it in excessive amounts is always without risks.

Regarding Niacin, its tolerable upper limit (UL) varies from 10 - 35 mg, covering ages from 1 to adulthood. This UL is tied to instances of skin flushing mainly associated with one form of Niacin, nicotinic acid. Conversely, niacinamide, another form, hasn't been proven to cause flushing. Still, it's prudent to consider the UL for nicotinic acid as a safety measure for potential adverse reactions related to excessive intake of other forms, like nicotinamide.

In our product, we have 20 mg of niacinamide form of Niacin. However, considering the precautions taken to establish the UL, we don't recommend it for children younger than 14.
